» Porcelain Veneers

A dental veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a prepared tooth surface. They are used to enhance a tooth's look or to cover a chip, stain, small gap, or crack. Veneers can quickly and easily give your smile a perfectly straight and white appearance. There is no recovery time afterwards.

There are two materials used for veneers: composite and porcelain. A composite veneer is placed in one appointment over the prepared tooth. A porcelain veneer is placed in two appointments, as the veneer is made in a dental laboratory.

There are several advantages to dental veneers. Esthetic enhancements can be easily attained with minimal tooth preparation. Composite veneers are popular because of their repair ease. porcelain veneers are excellent due to their longevity. They will feel as normal and natural as your regular teeth and will last for many years with proper care.

» Composite Fillings

When you have a cavity, the process for fixing it entails removing the diseased tissue and filling the remaining hole with a substance that will ensure the tooth is properly sealed.

There are now several filling materials available in the dental field: amalgam, porcelain, or composite resins. In our dental practice, we exclusively use composite and porcelain resins because:

  • porcelain and composite resin are stronger than amalgam

  • They allow the tooth color to be matched very closely.

  • They create a water-tight seal over the tooth being restored.

Advantages Of White Fillings

  • White, or composite fillings restore strength to the tooth, whereas amalgam makes a tooth more susceptible to cracking.

  • Composite fillings match the natural tooth color.

  • They require less tooth removal when they are placed.

» Tooth Whitening (Bleaching Procedures)

The enamel on the outside of your teeth may be the strongest substance in your body, but it does have a few weaknesses - it's very porous and prone to staining. Unfortunately, this means that drinking coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking can cause your teeth to become discolored over time.

While there are many whitening toothpastes available, they can only temporarily fix surface stains and can actually lead to more discoloration in the long run. This is because they are comprised of abrasive ingredients that can wear down your enamel and expose the naturally-yellow tooth structure underneath. For this reason, our expert cosmetic dentists tell all of our patients that professional tooth whitening is the best route to take when you want safely and quickly whiten your teeth.

» Tooth Bonding

There are two techniques in dentistry:

  • The indirect technique – where a lab is used to create the crown, inlay, onlay, bridge, or whatever restoration is needed; and

  • The direct technique – where the dentist bonds a restoration directly to your tooth and shapes it to the correct size.

Tooth bonding is a direct technique that corrects small gaps between teeth, chips, slight crookedness, and stains. It restores a tooth to its natural color and shape.

  • Is used to correct small imperfections

  • Requires artistic skill and ability from the dentist

  • Is completed with no outside help from a dental lab

  • The bonding color is chosen and mixed, and the tooth is shaped and completed, all in the dentist’s office. However, when many teeth are to be repaired, indirect porcelain restorations will be used.
